Privacy policy
Shecurity is a safety app, so privacy is part of safety. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what we store and why.
The short version
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics, and we never sell or share your data.
- Your emergency contacts, notes, timers and recordings stay on your phone.
- If you join the safety network, only the people in your circles can see your alerts and location.
- You can delete your account and all network data with one tap in the app (You › Delete my account).
Stored only on your phone
Your name, contacts, safe places, ride and date notes, check-in timers and audio recordings are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. We cannot see them. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes them.
Stored when you use the safety network
The network is optional. When you join it, we create an anonymous account (no email or phone number required) and store:
- your display name and the circles you're in;
- plans you share (where you're going, who with, an optional message and, if you choose, your location at that moment); they are hidden from your circle when the time you picked runs out and deleted soon after, and you can remove them any time;
- alerts you send (type, message and location at that time) and replies from your circle; alerts are deleted automatically after 30 days;
- your live location, only while you are sharing it (during an SOS, a walk or an expired check-in), and it is removed when sharing stops;
- a push notification token for your device, so your circle can reach you;
- whether you tapped "Tell me when Plus is ready".
This data is stored with Supabase in the European Union (Ireland) and protected by row-level security, so only members of the same circle can read it. Push notifications are delivered through your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla), which sees only an encrypted message.
Text messages and calls
When you send an SOS by text or call someone, Shecurity opens your phone's own messages or phone app. Those messages go through your mobile carrier, not through us.
Location and microphone
Shecurity asks for location only when you start an SOS, a walk or a check-in, and for the microphone only when you start recording or when a fake caller listens to your answers. For the fake call, your words are turned into text by your phone's own speech service just to pick a reply; nothing is saved or sent to us. You can withdraw these permissions in your phone's settings at any time.
This website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and uses fonts from Google Fonts. Both may log your IP address as part of normal web hosting. We use no cookies and no analytics.
Children
Shecurity is intended for people aged 16 and over.
Your rights
You can delete your network data at any time from the app. Under the GDPR you also have the right to access, correct and erase your data and to complain to your data protection authority.
